Hey guys, today I have returned with more vocabulary. These are coming from my list of JLPT N4 class vocabulary. As usual, I’ll give an example of how each word can be used as I believe it makes for good practice. Anyway, without further delay…
Here is the list for 14-February-2012
01. 受付（うけつけ） [noun] -> Reception (desk), Info desk
- これを受付に出してください -> “Please hand this in at the front desk.”
02. 受ける（うける） [る-verb] -> To take (lesson, test), To undergo
- 一月に試験（しけん）を受ける予定（よてい）です -> “I’m taking an exam in January.”
03. 動く（うごく） [う-verb, intransitive] -> To move, To stir
- 動くな撃つ（うつ）ぞ -> “Don’t move or I’ll shoot you.”
04. 嘘（うそ） [noun] -> Lie, Falsehood
- 彼は嘘をついたらしい -> “He seems to have told a lie.”
05. 内（うち） [noun, の-adjective] -> Within, Inside
- この内大事（だいじ）なのは第二目（もく）の観点（かんてん）である -> “Among these views, the second one is of importance.”
06. 打つ（うつ） [う-verb] -> To hit, To strike, To type
- ボールがバウンドして上げってくるところを打つ -> “[Meet / hit] the ball on the rise.”
07. 美しい（うつくしい） [い-adjective] -> Beautiful, Lovely
- 彼女に美しい花を買うべきだった -> “You ought to have bought beautiful flowers for her.”
08. 写す（うつす） [う-verb] -> To copy, To photograph, To film
- 彼は友達のノートをうつすのに忙しかった -> “He was busy copying his friend’s notebook.”
09. 移る（うつる） [る-verb, intransitive] -> To move (house), To transfer (department)
- 来月新しいアパートに移りたい -> “I want to move to a new apartment next month.”
10. 腕（うで） [noun] -> Arm
- 昨日腕が痛かった -> “I had an ache in my arm yesterday.”
