tu vs. tú
Generally, “tu” only has an accent when used as a subject pronoun (you). When used as a possessive pronoun (ie. your), it does not have an accent:
- tu = your
- tú = you (informal)
Examples:
- ¿Dónde está tu carro? = Where is your car?
- Tú y yo somos amigos. = You and I are friends.
note* the formal “you” is “usted”. For more information on formal and informal “you”, click here.
